As Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and Google has released more updates to their algorithm, we thought we’d write a beautiful piece of poetry that pays tribute to any true SEO’s frustrations with the SEO industry at large.
“S” – stands for “SON OF A!!!!!” Well, we won’t finish that thought because we’re *ahem* professionals, but you get the gist. Most of the time, even as professionals, we want to pull out our hair because we’re control freaks. Being an SEO expert means you possess an innate obsession with analytics and data. Most of the time, updates to algorithms make us want to smack our heads against the wall and scream, “WHY!?”. Yet, as true pioneers, we persevere through the storm and somehow find a way to continue being experts in our field….albeit with a little less control than we’d like.
“E” – stands for “Everyone’s an expert.” It seems your best friend’s grandpa knows everything there is to know about SEO and can get you on page one. Give…me…a…freaking…break. True SEO’s are good at what they do because they live and breathe SEO. It’s not an “interesting” topic that they stumbled upon. Instead, it’s a lifestyle they choose…like deciding to go with pleated pants or selecting a gel for your hair. These are all very important matters that require the utmost attention for maximum ROI.
“O” – stands for “Oh HELL no!”. That’s right, they’ve screwed you again. Everything you’ve emphasized in your recent SEO campaign means next to zilch. The search engines have switched up their most important factors once more, and you’re left in the cold….shivering…with nothing put your stray Chihuahua terrier and a scratchy flannel blanket to keep you warm. Oh well, on to the next strategy and 40+ hours of research to score top-ranking results.
That being said, SEO is a volatile world in which nothing is certain and everything is left up to the experts. While we’re thankful for the opportunity to display our unique talent of shifting our skills on the turn of a dime, even experts get extremely frustrated from time to time.
Let’s turn a negative into a positive, whaddya say? On Thanksgiving, we are thankful that SEO keeps us on our toes and provides us with a skill that is highly coveted. We are thankful that we are considered the cream of the crop. We are thankful that SEO gives us the agility that is necessary to move and shake in extremely fluid technological times. SEO, you are a pain in our ass, but we love you just the same. Like the older brother who consistently gives us unwanted noogies, we’ll let you slide this year…..Google+
