Getting started on a fitness or workout plan is hard. You have to start somewhere, but taking that first step isn’t easy! The same is true of content marketing! If you’re an Atlanta area business owner, developing content whether for your blog, social media, relevant publications, or other use can be tough – especially if yours is a boring niche or highly technical. You can use these as excuses not to create content, but in the end, you still HAVE to do it to get results, just like working out at the gym. Engaging, fresh content is important when it comes to success online.
We all “piddle” at various time – just like the first few times you go to the gym and you don’t really have a plan. You do a little of this and a little of that, but not a whole lot of anything. This doesn’t get results – and it won’t with your content marketing plan, either.
So, what do you do? Have a plan, and stick to it
Create a schedule so that you know when you are going to promote content, what type of content it is, and where the best place is to promote it. Not all content belongs on social media, and a suitable piece of content for Facebook doesn’t necessarily belong on Pinterest. It all boils down to the audience you’re putting your content in front of. When creating content for your blog, carefully think it out – what do your readers want? What are their interests and biggest problems? Just any old content won’t do.
Have a disciplined approach. For your gym workouts to be effective, you have to be disciplined. You can’t stuff yourself with pizza for dinner and realize your goals. The same goes for content. Be disciplined in your efforts to create great content that is useful, informative, and fresh – and cull the annoying or low value content.
Once you’ve developed a plan, are smart with your efforts, and get started, it’s critical to track what you’re doing. Is your strategy working? Which pieces of content seem to get the most response? Knowing these things will help you do more of what’s working, and less of what’s doing nothing but wasting your time.
