Chances are, over the past two or so years you’ve heard the phrase “content is king” more times than you can – or care – to remember. For 2015, is SEO changing? Not really. While content marketing is the biggest component of search engine optimization today, that’s not likely to change. In fact, great content shouldn’t really be thought of as a tactic, but just good old marketing that businesses should have been using all along.
Unless you’re practicing “black hat” SEO (and you shouldn’t be, it will only get you penalized or even banned from Google), there really aren’t any excuses to put off creating quality, informative content this year. The practice of stuffing keywords or search terms in content for the purpose of higher ranking has been dead for a while. As it should be, content needs to be written with the reader in mind, providing value and delivering solutions. Your content should be so compelling or engaging, the reader cannot help but keep reading to absorb it all in!
At EBB Web Design, our Atlanta SEO team understands that technical SEO is still a must – without on-page optimization, page titles, and keywords sprinkled in here and there, neither users or search engines would obtain relevant results. Quality inbound links are still important, but it’s how you get them that matters! No more “purchased” links or link exchanges with hundreds of other site owners, regardless of relevance. Today, gathering links is a bit more difficult, but if you provide amazing content, others will want to GIVE you links naturally. A handful of relevant, trusted links is more effective for SEO purposes than hundreds of “junk” links.
So, what has changed for SEO in 2015? Nothing, really. Social signals matter, a clean site that’s well optimized matters, and most of all, high quality content is a must. When you create content that is user friendly and worthy of your readers’ time and attention, you’ve won the battle!
Ultimately, SEO in 2015 is 2014 all over again. Focus on creating useful, original content that people like, and do it often. When you do this, the rest will fall into place.
