As an Atlanta business, if you don’t currently participate in social media, you may want to rethink your decision. Having an effective social media strategy will increase awareness of your brand, build trust among consumers, and let people see there is a human aspect to your business. We have a few tips below that will help you build a strong social media presence.
Develop a short list of topics. If you implement social media yourself, you may find it’s easy to get “writer’s block” if you just wait until something pops into your head. Posting on Facebook, Twitter, or other platforms just every now and then doesn’t work. Some of the things on your “short list” of topics that will help you come up with a post might include:
- Sales and special offers
- New product releases
- Breaking news in your industry
- Projects you have in the works
- Education/tutorials on your company’s products or services
- Tips, tricks, advice
- Humorous or inspirational quotes, industry-related jokes, etc.
You want to keep it varied, and not focus solely on promotional posts. People don’t want to be constantly sold to!
Search engines read your posts, so optimize them. The majority of your posts should include important keywords you’ve used in the development of your website. Also include links to your site using relevant keywords in some of your posts.
Create a schedule – and stick to it. If you’re going to develop a social media strategy, it’s important to keep it consistent. Post at least 3 or 4 times per week, if not 5 days a week. You can easily accomplish this by taking a few minutes twice each week to write your content. Once your posts are written, all you need to do is post on the days you’ve chosen to share your content, or schedule posts so they post automatically. By developing a routine, you keep your presence alive on the social media platforms you use.
Videos and pictures attract interest. Add a picture or video to make your posts stand out.
Kickstart your following by using social icons on your website, emails, advertisements, everywhere you can. You may even want to occasionally offer a giveaway or special incentive for followers.
Involve yourself in the community. It doesn’t take but just a few seconds here and there to let your followers know you’re paying attention to what they say. This can help build brand loyalty.
Many business owners are scared of social media, afraid they won’t do it right, or that it takes up too much time. Social media is extremely important today, not only for engaging a larger audience and building trust, but SEO as well!
