When you’re in the market for a company website, naturally you want it to be visually appealing, easy to navigate, and properly SEO’d for good search engine ranking. As highly experienced Atlanta web designers, we realize the importance of the overall user experience – and how important it is that visitors feel they can trust your products/services. Your website should exude credibility and trustworthiness.
That being said, here are a few factors to consider in the trust & credibility department:
The appeal of your website does matter. As we mentioned before, you want an appealing website – people really DO judge a book by its cover!
Make contacting you easy. Consumers are suspicious when they cannot easily locate contact information. Be sure your address and phone number are located in a conspicuous area so that it isn’t easily missed. Also include a “contact us” tab in your navigation menu.
Check – and double check – grammar and spelling. Nothing makes your company look unprofessional like misspelled words, broken grammar and slang. Make sure your content is valuable, and written in a way that demonstrates the professionalism of your company.
Use simple language your visitors understand. A conversational tone is good; by writing the way you would talk if you were talking to a customer in person, those who visit will clearly understand your message.
Don’t be anonymous. If you have a few staff members, provide photos and staff bios. Photos of your staff members, yourself, and even your office lend credibility to your website. Consider putting this information on an “our team” or “about us” tab in the navigation.
Display legitimate testimonials. Potential customers love reading what others have to say about your products or services. Be sure they are legitimate! If possible, use full names and photos to further the trust factor.
Maintain a company blog. A blog allows you to engage with existing and potential customers, providing company news, the latest deals or specials, or just provide information your target customer is looking for. Blogs help people get to know you, and prove your expertise in your industry.
There are dozens of things you can do to improve the trust and credibility factors of your website. If yours is an ecommerce site and you accept credit cards, be sure to provide information regarding your site’s security channels. Publish articles on authority websites all over the web to get your company’s name out there.
Website design encompasses much more than deciding what colors and images to use on your website! Put yourself in the potential customer’s shoes and ask yourself if the site is appealing, easy to navigate, if it provides the information you’re looking for, and if there are factors that make it credible, one you would trust if you were the customer.
