Does Your Website ‘Engage’ Your Visitors Emotionally?

Given today’s competitiveness in the online world, Atlanta businesses must engage their visitors emotionally through their websites. When you think about it, emotion is everything. Nearly every small business has a website these days, but not every site is effective in reaching the goals of the business. Without engagement, one thing is certain – you won’t convert visitors into trusting customers who spend money with you. How can you make your website more engaging on an emotional level? Our Atlanta web design professionals have a few tips.

Speak one-on-one with your visitors. Consumers don’t want content that clearly is trying to push them into buying. What they do want is information that speaks directly to their needs, news articles relevant to your geographic area that tie in with the service/product you’re marketing, and content that engages the reader. This can be in the form of written text, videos, infographics, even chatting through an instant messaging app in real time. Inform, educate, provide solutions, engage. Anyone who visits your website should feel they are being directly spoken to!

Web design that’s inviting. Let’s face it – many websites look cold. Sure they may be sleek and aerodynamic, but they often don’t evoke emotion. You want visitors to your site to feel warm and at ease, not cold and uneasy. The colors used in design, how intuitive your site is, even the feelings it evokes (warmth, positivity, happiness, nostalgia), depending on your industry, make a huge difference.

Give your visitors what they won’t find elsewhere. Whether it’s blog articles, news, new product announcements, videos, exclusive downloads or something else, make sure you address your visitors’ emotional needs through exclusive content. After all, why should people come back and visit time after time if they can find what you have on a dozen other sites? Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it doesn’t work with your website!

Let the human element show through every once in a while. Whether it’s a little light humor or an article or video about something that happened at the office, consumers feel more emotionally connected when you add a human element into your company and brand. There ARE real people behind the scenes! You knew it, but maybe your visitors didn’t?

Does your business website engage visitors on an emotional level? At EBB Web Design, we know there’s more to great website design than visual appearance. Let our Atlanta web designers help you bring it all together, today!
